Northart generally has two different exhibitions on at any one time, as we have two separate exhibition areas: the main gallery and gallery 4; a laundromat sits between them. Both of the galleries can be further divided, if required, into 3 discrete exhibition spaces. Administration offices and a class room for our popular workshops and Art After School classes are beside gallery 4.
The gallery fronts on to a public square and has floor to ceiling windows, which are treated as separate exhibition spaces. The main gallery's Artist's Window and other window display areas are changed regularly and are popular with evening strollers and window shoppers.
The main gallery offers a diverse programme of individual and group exhibitions, which include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, textile art, ceramics and glass. The smaller gallery 4 space incorporates our members' gallery and is often used for less formal exhibitions.
A series of artist's talks, lectures, informal "meet the artist" sessions and other art events complement the exhibition programme. See the Public Programmes section for more information.
Admission is free, thanks to support from North Shore City Council.
